Community Bulletin Board

Welcome to the Brighton Central School District’s Community Bulletin Board where you can find community related e-flyers and links. Our District works with community non-profit organizations to present information about local activities that have educational, civic, recreational or cultural value for students.  Information posted has been approved for distribution as a public service. The school district does not endorse community information posted here and does not assume responsibility for the activity or the organization. 

We respectfully request that you do not contact principals and schools in our District directly. If you wish to submit information to share on the Bulletin Board, please email Dan Goldman, Communications Coordinator, at daniel_goldman@bcsd.org. 

In talking to community non-profit organizations, we learned that some families are not seeing information and flyers on the Community Bulletin Board and in our weekly District eNews. In order to help get the word out about these programs, we’re going to offer limited flyer distribution a few times a year at Council Rock Primary School and French Road Elementary School. The deadlines for submission will be Oct. 9, Jan. 8, March 5, and May 7 and they would be distributed the following week. Flyers must be approved before they are dropped off at schools. Contact Communications Coordinator Dan Goldman at daniel_goldman@bcsd.org for approval and details on how many flyers to print and how to group them for classroom distribution. We will still post community information to the Community Bulletin Board and in the District eNews. 

Upcoming Events

Rochester Game Festival

The Rochester Game Festival is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at RIT’s Student Hall for Exploration and Development. Admission is free. Visit the event website for more information.

Brighton Fire Department Open House

The Brighton Fire Department Open House will be from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3100 East Ave. Watch live fire demonstrations, climb in fire trucks, spray the fire hose, use a fire extinguisher, and learn important safety information. Brighton Farmers Market

Due to construction at Brighton High School, the Market will be held in the spacious parking lot of the Golisano Institute, located at 150 Sawgrass Drive (just off of Westfall Road). We’re grateful to the Golisano Institute for hosting the Brighton Farmers’ Market outdoor season through Nov. 22. Join us every Sunday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. for live music, great people, and a wide array of fresh and sustainably grown fruits and veggies, baked goods, meats, eggs, maple products, honey, fresh flowers, pastas, vegan and gluten free foods, garden plants, coffee products, and so much more!  Learn more about the Brighton Farmers’ Market, our 40+ vendors and their products, our push towards sustainability, and/or sign up for weekly newsletters online here. • Need reliable aftercare? A few spots have opened up at the Brookside Afterschool Program for grades 1–5! Contact the Recreation Department if you are interested in enrollment!
• Learn the basics of crochet while creating something meaningful for our community in Fantastic Fibers: Granny Square Community Service Group! (Meets on Thursdays, Oct. 1–29, for grades 4–6)
• Sign up now for Babysitter's Training to learn the roles and responsibilities of a babysitter including skills in accident prevention and first aid. (Meets on Saturday, Oct. 3, for ages 11–15)
• Join the 90-minute Home Alone Safety: When I'm in Charge class to learn the importance of behaving responsibly when home alone. (Meets on Saturday, Oct. 3, for ages 8–12)
• Whether your child is an experienced climber or new to the sport, the Climbing Club at RocVentures focuses on fun, making friends, and fostering personal development through climbing! (Meets on Saturdays, Oct. 3–24 or Sundays, Oct. 4–-25, for ages 6–12)
• Dress for a mess and let your little one's imagination shine at Mini Makers: Messy Art Mondays! (Meets on Mondays, Oct. 5 – Dec. 14, for ages 2–5)
• Get your wiggles out at Mini Movers Open Gym where we provide your little one with a full hour of fun! (Meets on Wednesdays, Oct. 7 – Dec. 16, for ages 1–3)
• Is your kiddo interested in rock climbing, fun activities, and adventure during the next school break? Sign up now for Recess Rock Climbing on Friday, Oct. 9 or Monday, Oct. 12! (9 a.m. –  4 p.m., for ages 7-12) 
• Draw characters, comic strips, and your own mini graphic novel in Learn to Draw: Manga & Comics, for all skill levels! (Meets on Tuesdays, Oct. 13 – Nov. 17, for grades 2–5)
• Join Art Around the World to learn about the art styles and techniques from different cultures around the world, then to create our own masterpieces! (Meets on Thursdays, Oct. 15 – Nov. 19, for grades 2–5)
• Work together as a team with your family and friends to enjoy puzzle solving, friendly competition, intriguing challenges, and fun activities at the Family Fun Friday: Escape Room program! (Meets on Oct. 16, for ages 4+)   
• Join Town Historian and Brighton Cemetery trustee Mary Jo Lanphear for an autumn walk through one of Brighton's oldest places at the Brighton Cemetery Tour! (Meets on Sunday, Oct. 18, for ages 18+)
• Celebrate Halloween with the Town of Brighton at our annual Trunk or Treat event! (On Oct. 24, for ages <11)
• Sign up now for Halloween Sensory Friendly Trick or Treating, designed for our friends and families who would benefit from a low key, relaxed trick or treating event! (On Oct. 30, for ages <11)
