Brighton High School hosted its inaugural Women’s History Month Assembly in March. The event was sponsored by the school’s Girl Up and Women’s History clubs. A panel of Brighton alumni and staff came to share their experiences:

• Jordana L. Gilman, M.D. M.P.H., Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, UR Medicine 
• Jennie I. Schaff, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer, Farash Foundation
• Nancy Gong, Glass Artist, Gong Glass Works 
• Shannon Times, BHS Mathematics Teacher and Track/Cross Country Coach
• Esther Winter, Brighton CSD Board Member, Actor, Singer, Dancer, Choreographer, and Director

The goal was to provide students with an opportunity to pause and reflect on women’s rights, while also engaging with the real and ongoing challenges women continue to face today. Thank you to the panelists and clubs for making this great event happen.
