Community Approves 2024-25 School Budget
Residents of the Brighton Central School District approved a $104,856,329 budget for the 2024-25 school year by a vote of 806 to 117. The budget received an 87.3% “yes” vote. The projected tax levy increase for 2024-25 is 1.88%.
Voters also elected two board members to the Board of Education: Dr. Christina Lee and Esther Winter.
“Our community voted overwhelmingly to support the proposed 2024-25 budget,” Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan said. “87.32% of voters said yes to a plan that supports the incredible work that is being done by our staff and the results of that work for every child. This is the second highest “yes” vote in the last 40 years of budget votes. We’re incredibly grateful for your support.
“Finally, and very importantly, congratulations to Mrs. Esther Winter and Dr. Christina Lee on their reelection. They, along with their colleagues on the Board, have been steadfast in their leadership and support of our work and the children of this community. We’re very fortunate in this district to all work as one team to accomplish our goals for children and families.”
